Buttercream is one of the easiest and most versatile decorative options, and personally my favorite. The ability to play around with the color and flavor means you can create something classic and simple to bold and innovative.
- 125g butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups icing sugar, sifted
- 1 tablespoon milk
Beat butter using a stand or handheld electric mixer, until pale and creamy.
Slowly add the icing sugar and milk, adding more or less milk depending on your desired thickness.
Add desired flavor and/or coloring.
My favorite basic flavors are vanilla (paste or essence), lemon (juice and rind) and chocolate (sifted cocoa powder)
