Makeup products these days can be expensive, often don’t do what they purport to, and can end up causing more skin issues than they’re worth. I have compiled a list of the tried and true faves of mine, mostly available at your local pharmacy or drugstore.
Dermablend Cover Creme $56.95
This full coverage cream is a blessing for people like me who have dark circles and a very uneven skin tone. The consistency is quite thick and set in the packaging so you receive a small spatula to assist in getting the product out and warming it up to loosen the foundation for a smooth application. This is also brilliant for covering up that tattoo before you go to lunch with Grandma or that important meeting at work. If you only require minimal coverage, this may not be for you.
Maybelline Superstay Foundation $14.69
A staple for a lot of women, Superstay foundation boasts full coverage and a long wear formula of up to 24hrs. This product has a lovely, creamy texture and sits well on the skin. The pump is also a big selling point as you’re not wasting any product.
Rimmel Insta Conceal + Correct $15.99
This pallet is great introduction to colour correcting, with 3 different shades to fix key areas. The peach hue neutralises dark circles while illuminating facial features, the green shade covers blemishes and redness, and the lilac shade mutes yellow undertones to correct a dull complexion.
Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer $10.99
This holy grail concealer is pimped by a ton of youtubers, and for good reason. It is infused with Goji Berry and Haloxyl that helps cover dark circles and brighten the eye area and the applicator allows you to buff in the product for a streak free complexion.
Bare Minerals Mineral Veil $31.00
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this stuff. A beautiful finishing powder that leaves you with a lovely soft glow which also helps keep your face looking fresh all day and is so weightless it melts right into your face.
Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder $40.00
Considered by many to be the holy grail in setting powders, this cult product is light, bright and will make you look polished and refreshed. It wont settle into fine lines giving you that filter effect that is so popular and will prolong your makeup keeping you looking fresh all day or night. While it’s not the cheapest product, it is definitely worth the spend.
Maybelline Illegal Length Mascara $18.50
My lashes aren’t terrible, but I always like them to be as long and lush as possible. This mascara is a god send with 4mm fibres in the formula which will extend those eye tresses without flaking. The brush is designed with 6 different contact points to which will lengthen those lashes and give you gorgeous, don’t-look-away eyes
Lime Crime Velvetines $20.00
These are my go-to lip product! Lime Crime Velvetines are a liquid color that have a beautiful texture and are long wear, in addition to being vegan. The richly pigmented formula goes on smoothly and dries down to a matte, velvety texture that gave it its name.
Real Techniques Flawless Base Set $26.00
This set of cruelty free brushes are beautifully custom cut to create a flawless base. This pack includes a foundation brush, contour brush, detailer brush and buffing brush as well as a cute little cup to store them in. I really love how affordable yet brilliant these brushes are.
BH Cosmetics Makeup Brushes – Rose Romance $23.99
This brand is so understated in the marketplace and I feel they need some credit. They offer a large range of products and tools to create a masterpiece on your face at an unbeatable price point. I love that they have a large range of vegan options that are of great quality and when you consider the range you get for the price it’s really never been cheaper to have a masters tool kit. Seriously, I could not pimp these enough.
